Alastrian: A demonoid race often hunted for their magical hair; Alastrians are known to be the best translators in the realm; Alastrians can be bound as familiars.

Alastrian Sea: The largest body of water in the realm; thought to be named after the semi-mythical island of Alastria—the homeland of the Alastrian race.

Alpha: The leader of a Desert Elf pride.

Ament: The angel of the Goddess of Strength, who serves as a messenger.

Angelika: The goddess of Ocean Life.

Arch-Nava: An outer realm race on the brink of extinction; little, if anything, is known about them, other than the fact that they may be demonoid, with wings.

Ariel: A vengeance demon.

Arles: A stone city at the heart of Durac.

Asereje jebe Kresgie: Saffron, the Durac devil; Durac for "Queen of Kresgie."

Avatars: Beings that speak for deities. These are generally mortals who ascend to the task. Sometimes, they maintain their own personal lives, sometimes, they do not.

Baku: The goddess of barriers.

Balankesta: A Durac sport; two teams attempt to get a small rubber ball through a vertical hoop using their feet, hips, and knees. Basically soccer.

Barnel: The former god of beauty; though to have destroyed himself when he was rejected by his lover, Aefie.

Barr: The reigning family of the island kingdom of Catalan, currently in exile.

Beigor: A mainland kingdom ruled primarily by Humans. The intellectual capital of the realm.

Beta: An individual serving as second in command of a Desert Elf pride. Although functionally second-in-command, they rarely rise to the rank of Alpha.

Beverly: The capital of Durac.

Brennen: A small kingdom with an entirely Human population. Known for a tense relationship with its neighbor, Ruatha.

C
Catalan: An island kingdom ruled by the Barr family; said to be one of the first kingdoms settled entirely by Humans.

Catsy: The goddess of defense.

Ceres: A vengeance demon.

Chandeldon: A corrupt mainland kingdom ruled by King Deiphobus Miskish. The center of gambling for the realm.

Codiac: A powerful Desert Elf pride; noted for taking slaves and murdering innocents during raids.

Comet: The god of travelers.

Common: The primary language of the realm.

Coone Mount: A Durac village; the only farming village on the island.

Corbel: The reigning family of Ruatha.

Corrin: A mainland kingdom ruled by Queen Senara Lennox.

Crackpot King: An unkind reference to King Artem Barr of Catalan for his ambitions at realm-wide peace; deceased.

Cyane: The goddess of wine.

D
Dahlia: The goddess of mirth.

Dance of the Mayflies: An ancient Durac myth about doomed, star-crossed lovers.

Dar: The god of the sky.

Day of the Lilies: A Catalan holiday; celebration of the dead, during which lilies are thrown into the Alastrian sea.

Day of Unity: An Elf holiday celebrating the unification of the various off shoots of the race.

Dehner: A vengeance demon.

Deleo: A rainforest kingdom of the mainland ruled by Queen Leslie Burke and protected by mythical warriors called the Crystal Knights and the Crystal warriors.

Deleon: Human natives of Terabithia who are each born with a special crystal that endows them with a single magical gift.

Desert Elf: An Elf offrace; like Amazons, they are more or less entirely female, nomadic, and somewhat criminal. Their society is divided up in five prides, each with its own distinct personality and philosophy.

Desproto: Durac for "you are welcome."

Dikawa: The reigning family of Shaldani.

Divine: The monotheistic deity that some worship, taking all other gods and goddesses as saints, messengers, and angels; the Divine has no gender or appearance.

Draco: A mainland kingdom. This is known to be where the Red Dragon first began his assault on the rest of the realm. Most people believe that he was once king.

Dragian: A Draconian religion centering around the worship of Gardus, Tyr, and Ruhran.

Drago: The most powerful of the Desert Elf prides; lives in peace with all the other Elf races.

Dragon: A rare demonoid species of the realm, once hunted, now tolerated.

Durac: The island kingdom and land of origin of the Durac people, ruled by Princess Laazia Prospero. Also the name of the humanoid species built stronger than an ordinary Human with the ability to wield the magic of a specific brand, given to the Durac at the age of 15.
E
Ebene: A cruel, outer realm race that occasionally attacks the realm. The Ebene have the singular ability to seal off magic in an area and travel by portal, however, they require the souls of others to maintain this power.

Elf: A long-lived humanoid race, noted for their long ears and blue eyes. All Elves are capable of learning five basic spells (fire, force field, teleportation, telepathy, and telekinesis), although some pursue further studies in magic.

Elf Heroes: Three children chosen in every generation to serve Valeria with special powers; the Hero of While, the Hero of Destiny, and the Hero of Lore.

Emilia Cortylini: A famous Elf singer, deceased.

Enjolras: The god of freedom, known to be the son of a mortal woman and Barnel.

F
Face: The god of disguises.

Flame: The god of fire.

Flordelis: The goddess of vengeance.

Funga: A traditional Durac greeting; Durac for "welcome."

Gaheris: The god of healing.

Galaxia: A mainland kingdom ruled by Queen Jennifer Arthur.

Gambi: A small island in the Alastrian Sea said to be cursed. Whosoever sets foot upon the island may never leave it.

Gamma: An individual serving as third-in-command of a Desert Elf pride.

Gardus: The god light.

Gene: The god of the forge.

Ghost: An animated imprint of a living person who has died; contrary to common opinion, a ghost is not a floating soul.

Gloriaya: The goddess of torment.

Grania: The name of a powerful inland Durac clan; leaders of the Durac isolationist movement.

Guardians: A former task force made up of eight resistance fighters in the service of Lysia; Philip, Tranns, Mia, Sito, Jesse, Adriana, Aden, and Ariadne.

H
Harkin: The reigning family of Valeria going back to the very founding of the line with Queen Dasha Harkin. Harkin women are known for having fiery red hair.

Harper Palace: The royal palace of Shaldani, housing the Dikawa family.

Hawk: The god of flight.

Heat: A phase in Alastrian reproduction that occurs once a year in the week leading to the female's birthday. The female's hands become spongy and secrete reproductive chemicals. It causes great discomfort; often called "blood fever."

Hind's Blood: The only known substance capable of killing a god. Myth states it is the blood of a creature who was half doe, half woman.

Hyden: A mainland kingdom settled by Elves, with an unstable climate, ruled by Princess Seraphina.

Hopa: The goddess of life.

Human: The basic humanoid race; Humans are generally incapable of magic and thrive on science and technology.

I
Illineaye: A lost Durac city, buried under a volcano called Mount Wes.

Iris: Goddess of visions.

Isolationists: A small sect of Duracs determined to remove all mainland influences from Durac and return it to a state of purity.

Segomil: A mainland kingdom ruled by Lord Segomil, an eccentric man obsessed with goats.

J
Jaguar: A small Desert Elf pride; the most friendly of all the prides to men and outsiders.

Javert: A university in Beigor where members of Human royal houses send their children.

Jem: A Durac fruit; red jems are spicy; yellow jems are sweet; jems only grow in a tropical climate.

Jemaid: A popular carbonated drink made with the juice of sweet jems.

Jinx: A Durac spirit responsible for keeping ghosts from crossing over into the mortal realm; Durac for "that which we cannot know."

Joxom: The god of the harvest.

Kallista: The goddess of beauty; surname Summer.

Kaytie jebe Elliahu: The Durac afterlife of eternal pleasure; Durac for "the Field of Elliabu."

Kobia: A Durac ritual, joining the minds of two individuals; considered very risky and banned.

Kresgie: Hell; Durac word for "underworld of the wicked."

Kurt: The god of seduction.

Krysta: The goddess of childbirth.

L
Alida: A mainland kingdom, formerly an Elf colony, ruled by Queen Ambi the Second.

Languna Knights: Magical knights from Miranda who use rings filled with water from the Twin Lakes to create shapes and manipulate matter. Some of the very Humans in the realm known to posses magic.

Lirin: A demonoid race from the outer realm that thrives on fiber and has limited sentience.

Luna: The goddess of fertility.

Maca: Durac for "thank you."

May Day: A Catalan holiday; a celebration of spring and the day when the most important roller-skating race of the year is held.

Melody: The goddess of dreams.

Mido: A trade town in Valeria; natives of Mido have a distinct accent and tend to drop the letter "h."

Miranda: A mainland kingdom dedicated to magic. It is the home of the Twin Lakes, magical healing waters. Many people elope to Miranda.

Mirror Universe: A parallel universe in which everything is innately opposite. Also called the “Dark World.”

Moon: The goddess of the night.

Mountain Elf: A mountain dwelling offshoot of Elves.

Mudora Tulala: An Elf holiday, celebrated as precursor to the new year.

Mudoraism: The Elf religion worshipping the Triad.

Nale: The angel of the Goddess of Intellect.

Naming Ceremony: A Durac ceremony in which a newly crowned monarch selects a new surname for the entire family.

Neit: Durac for "no."

Nemosyne: The goddess of memory.

Nightmares: A collective of nine deities, said to be the children of the island of Gambi; Tail, Gene, Kurt, Iris, Angel, Catsy, Face, Hawk, and Flame.

Northern Shore City: A fishing community on Durac; said to be the first settlement.

Nysgods: A mysterious race from a parallel but dependent realm; more commonly called Shadow People; born Nysgods are all male.

Omar: The god of comedy.

Orca: A small Desert Elf pride consisting of pirates.

P
Pax Dia: An Elf holiday celebrating meditation on the work of the Triad.

Phi: The god of sleep.

Polarians: A rare race, often referred to as Stars; with origins in the sky. The hearts of Polarians are a rare commodity, often sought for the black market. Polarians are all female, leading many to believe they might be an offshoot of the Nysgods.

Pride: A community of Desert Elf; each pride lives by a different code of conduct and under a different leader; pride warfare is common.

Princess Psycho: A popular nickname for Princess Amanda Harkin of Valeria.

Prospero: The current reigning family of Durac, now in exile.

Pyrnne: A crime-ridden mainland kingdom ruled by Prefect Kaur.

Ra: An immortal family that thrives off of evil and uses great amounts of magical abilities simply to keep away boredom; semi-mythical. Known for their red eyes.

Rainbow: The goddess of weather.

Red Dragon: A warlord—once king of Draco—who has decided to conquer the realm. A merciless killer. Possibly once a lover to Lysia.

Ring of Light: An ancient ring worn by the monarch of the Durac people.

Ritual: The Durac ceremony during which a Durac is given a magical brand.

Rocha: A vengance demon.

Rowan: The goddess of sorrow.

Rozyki Rec: An Elf holiday celebrating the creation of the world.

Ruatha: A corrupt mainland kingdom ruled by King Corbel.

Ruhran: The god of justice.

Sabertooth: A powerful Desert Elf pride; considered to be the most beautiful Desert Elves in the realm.

Sacred Realm: The Elf concept of Nirvana where the Triad reside with the Elf Sages and the deceased.

Sages: Seven mythical figures, said to be responsible for saving Valeria generations ago.

Sage Day: An Elf holiday celebrating the sacrifices of the Sages.

Saria: A backwater Elf village famed for prostitution and gambling. Citizens of Saria have a distinct accent. Saria is also the site of a generational anomaly where several Elf children were born with brown eyes.

Screaming Cliffs: A series of cliffs on Durac where Durac go to scream out their frustrations.

Seska: The goddess of death.

Shaka: A Durac percussion instrument, built out of a hollow, wooden tube.

Shira Hade: An Elf novelist known for writing scandalous romance stories.

Shiraz: A private boarding school of magic hidden deep in the heart of Valeria; courses include potions, herbology, magical biology, charms, history of magic, and others.

Shokari Veia: Durac dark magic.

Sky Kingdom: The mythological dwelling of the Skylar gods.

Skylarism: Worship of the Galaxian deities Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Wind, Twilight, Comet, and Luna.

Smooth Brow: A slang term for a Durac who has assimilated to mainland practices; a Durac without a symbol after the age of fifteen.

Southern Shore City: A more-or-less modern, mainland city on the southern end of Durac; a popular tourist attraction.

Spirit Guide: A Durac meditation technique, where the Durac speaks with a spiritual teacher through deep concentration, bordering on REM sleep.

Spot: A slang term for a Durac with a symbol; generally used only in reference to Duracs living on the mainland.

Stars: A slang term for Polarians.

Star Hunters: Black marketeers who seek Polarians to cut out their hearts and either sell them or use them to obtain extended life.

Starz Trio: A popular Durac singing group of three sisters; Diamond, Dali, and Electria.

Starlight: The goddess of victory.

Starlight and Still Waters: A famous music hall in Catalan.

Sun: The goddess of day.

Suprarosa: The only democracy in the realm.

Sycorax: A vengance demon known to avenge slaves.

Tahafra: A vengeance demon, who once was Alastrian.

Tail: The god of war.

Terry Hann: Considered by many to be the greatest of Durac kings.

Thuy: A Beigoran conservatory; one of the most difficult universities to be admitted to in the entire realm.

Triad: The sister deities, woshipped by the Elves. The Goddess of Strength, the Goddess of Intellect, and the Goddess of Bravery.

Twilight: The goddess of music.

Tyr: The goddess of darkness.

Utta: The god of retribution.

V
Valeria: One of the oldest mainland kingdoms in the realm, ruled by Princess Amanda Harkin. Many consider it to be the cultural capital of the realm.

Valerie: The angel of the Goddess of Bravery.

Varia: The goddess of bards.

Volta: A mainland kingdom completely sealed off from the rest of the realm. Thought to be inhabited by Humans seeking enlightenment in isolation.

W
W Fellowship: A mysterious, nearly extinct race of great power.

Wind: The goddess of the hunt.

Winged Divers: Durac sportsmen who dive off of cliffs on waxen wings during the High Holidays for the entertainment of onlookers.
